selecting the calculation method (was: Life Cycle Inventory)

Post by romana » 26 Mar 2013 11:57

Hi,

I'm using openLCA for the first time and thanks to Christian! it's easy going.
But unfortunately there is somehow an error because I can't select the calculation method in order to proceed the LCI. The list is empty...

Many thanks for any assistance!
Cheers, Romana

Dear Romana,
I am happy that you find the tutorial from Christian useful - to your question, I am not so sure, selecting the calculation method is not necessary any more in the calculation of a product system since some releases - the calculation screen looks like this now:

Which version of openLCA are you using? Which operation system?
Thanks and best wishes,
Andreas

Hi Romana,

glad that you're finding the tutorial useful. Just to make sure: You have imported some LCIA methods, right? Neither openLCA nor the U.S. NREL LCI or ELCD database come with those methods. You can download them from the openLCA website though (see http://openlca.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=38)

Dear Andreas,

thanks for your answer.
Yes, exactly the calculation screen looks like the one which you have posted.
The calculation is done accurately but afterwards the "characterization field" at the calculation page is missing.

I'm using the newest version of Open LCA and Windows 7.
Greetings, Romana

Hi gebbissimo1,

thanky for your reply. As suggested I downloaded the zip-file from the webpage, nevertheless the import of the methods can not be finished successfully, due to the fact that may flow property data are missing.
Do you have any further ideas?

Thank you in advance!

Hello Romana,
you should use the 1.3 beta versions available from the sourceforge site; the last "non-beta" version requires that you provide reference units also for the impact category units which is not so smart and therefore we have removed this again in the newer versions. It works though if you assign for example mass as flow property to these units.
Best
