Using Ecoinvent data for linking processes in Openlca

Post by Jameschen » 11 Oct 2014 14:13

Hi

I am using imported some data Ecoinvent 3 into Openlca. In the Ecoinvent 3, the processes are linked by " market process” automatically. But when i import the market process into my system, the input of market process is empty and two processes can't be linked by market process (i assume because there is no value in the market process). So i wonder how can i link two processes by market process using the data from ecoinvent 3. for example, ‘market for maize grain, feed, Swiss integrated production", “wheat grain, feed production, Swiss integrated production”

Thanks

james

Hi James,
this is only the case (that markets don't link) if you import the "raw" data from ecoinvent directly; if you import the nexus files, the markets are linked.

Hi, Andreas

i have another problem. i cant link some processes from ecoinvent database ( they have the same flow in output and input) The only difference between two flows are the location and categories( some has category, others dont). So i wonder the nexus file will allow these processes be linked?

thanks

Hi, as said, the ecoinvent nexus systems are fully linked. Flows from a different location cannot be linked (which is also reasonable).
If you are using ecoinvent in a non-OECD country, for academic purposes, then the ecoinvent licence is free, also from the nexus system.
Hth,
Andreas
