The memory value is to high for your operating system

Post by maddalena.ripa » 01 Jun 2016 13:30

Hi all,

I'm running openLCA 1.4.2 on a Windows 7 - 32 bit - 4.00GB Ram machine. The "The memory value is to high for your operating system" error message pop up when I try to increase the maximum memory usage in MB from 1024 to 3072. For this reason I cannot run any simulation.

Any help?

Hi, for 32 bit operation systems, the maximum amount of memory is < 2GB, and according to our tests, values < 1600 MB (i.e. 1.6 GB) should work. You can experiment by entering the value in the config.ini.
For some databases which create large product systems, this is indeed not sufficient for an analysis or Monte Carlo simulation, sorry for that. A workaround is to use system process-based supply chains where you do not need unit processes, typically thus model unit processes only for the foreground system, if you cannot switch to another computer.
Hth,
Andreas
