Characterization in OpenLCA

Hi,

I'm using the IMPACT 2002+ in OpenLCA and i want to perform the characterization phase (midpoint level) , i mean, multiply the LCI results for a characterization factor and obtain for example the Kg of SO2 into air eq. of Terrestrial acidification/nutrification categorie. I know that the IMPACT 2002+ it has those factors and also normalization factors for the midpoint categories.

So, is there a way that i could perform the midpoint level with the IMPACT 2002+ in OpenLCA?

Hi,

I've put together an Excel file that will convert the normalized endpoint results that are given in openLCA (in points) to endpoint results in "native" units (DALY, PDF*m2*yr, kg CO2e and MJ primary) and in midpoint units as well. You just need to copy-paste the results from the "LCIA results" tab and you are in business.

Hi, I'm also having the same problem to perform characterization phase for Eco-Indicator99. I am currently doing a comparison for ''Product System: Treatment of bio-waste, composting, alloc. default, U'' and ''Product System: Treatment of manure and biowaste by anaerobic digestion, alloc, default, U''. Can you do a step-by-step tutorial so that I could try to generate it myself? Thank you very much, it means a lot to me~

Hi, basically you only need an impact assessment method (which you can obtain by importing the LCIA method packs, available from the openLCA download page) and then select the specific method when you start the calculation.
