Navigation error

Post by Ants » 04 Sep 2013 22:14

Dear Forum members,

I am using openLCA on my MAC - and I want to export my database so that I can share with my collegues for review. When I am exporting the database after around 1 min I receive the error "Unexpected error"... and so on (see screenshot attached)

Any hint?

Best regards,

Andreas

Hi Andreas,
the error is caused by lack of memory; depending on the size of your database, exporting it can require quite some memory, and in your case you run into an out of memory exception -> try to increase the memory as explained here in the wiki: http://openlca.org/documentation/index. ... allocation.
As a workaround, you can also copy the database folder (openlca-data/data/[databasename]) but I would not recommend it especially if you want to share between Win and Mac.
Hope this helps!

Hello Andreas,

thanks a lot for your quick an precise answer - problem is - that I am using a MacBook which means that there is no file "config.ini" - at least I have not found it up till now. The description in the WIKI is only for Windows. Problem is that I want to share with a "Windows User" that means "copying the database" also would be no option (moreover I am not sure if this works on a Mac).

How can a increase the RAM limit on a Mac for openLCA? Any trick? Other file name?

Best regards,

Andreas

Hi all,

It seems that I have the same problem that Ants did one year ago. Unfortunately, it seems like no one know the answer :(

But let's not lose hope! Did anyone manage to increase the RAM allocation for openLCA on Mac?

Hi Ahaar,
please see here for instructions on increasing RAM allocation on a Mac: http://www.openlca.org/documents/14826/ ... in+Mac.pdf
It also explains where to find the openlca.ini file.

Andreas
