Ecoinvent 3.1 to 3.2

Post by romains » 04 Jan 2016 12:40

Hello,

is there a way to migrate from EcoInvent 3.1 to 3.2 without loosing the global parameters? Or is it safer to import 3.2 inside 3.1?
What is the safest way to upgrade?

Best regards and happy new year,
Romain

To answer my own post,

I chose to start anew, creating a new database with EcoInvent 3.2 on it.

I found out that the most convenient way to export my project to this new database was to use the ILCD format, since it is, in my experience, the only one that conserves properly the parameters (even global ones!) as well as the names of the output flows. In my experience, the JSON format does not conserve parameters and the Excel format gets confused with output flow names.
Some process datasets (transforming activities, or default providers) have changed names in the 3.2 version, hence I had to manually found a couple of them again. Also, one needs to manually reconnect all inputs flows with their default providers.

Apart from that, it works like a charm! :-)
