Hy!
The attempt to create a remote database Fails in openLCA 1.4.1/Windows 8. No difference wether the host is "localhost" or really remote.
In some (perhaps most) cases the program crashes completely and has to be restarted. After the next program start the new database is listed in the Navigation bar but it is empty and useless.
Communication with the remote mySQL-System however is possible using the SQL developer tool, which means that the necessary connection is correctly established.
How to proceed?
Best regards

Re: MySQL database (was: remote Database crashes the program
Hi Joachim,
the remote server needs to be set up differently in openLCA 1.4 - in 1.3, MySQL was the default database, but for 1.4 we recommend the local Derby database. If you want to use the MySQL server, then you need to create the database following the schema (which is available in the repository), start MySQL, and can then connect, by entering the database name that you created in MySQL . We are currently working on a repository solution for openLCA which is (we hope) much better suited for powerful group work with openLCA (if that is what you are after), it will be released with the new 1.5 release start of next year.
Hth,
Andreas

Re: MySQL database (was: remote Database crashes the program
Hi Andreas!
Thank you for the answer. I tried to find the sql-schema with no success so far. What repository do you mean? Source code repository on github? or on sourceforge? I browsed both and didn't find any sql-file. Which of these two is the active code-repository?
I need a remote sql database to be able to develop a lightweight client, operating with the same (or similar but simplified) database, for educational purposes (Master-Moduls at the Unviersity of Stuttgart).
Best regards
Joachim

Re: MySQL database (was: remote Database crashes the program
Hi Joachim,
the code repository we use is github (https://github.com/GreenDelta/olca-app, etc.) . The mySQL schema is here: https://github.com/GreenDelta/olca-modu ... _mysql.sql .
You are aware that we offer also dedicated developer support for openLCA (http://www.openlca.org/service-contracts) - this might be useful in your case.
Best wishes and success,
Andreas
