Installation on YOSEMITE

Post by fudao » 22 Nov 2014 18:26

Hi all,

I have been trying to install OpenLCA 1.4 on Mac OS X Yosemite. I have already installed JDK and it says I have it installed. However, when I click the OpenLCA icon, a pop-up dialogue says "To open "openLCA" you need to install the legacy Java SE 6 runtime". I think there is something wrong... as OpenLCA should run on Java SE 8.

---
fuku$ java -version
java version "1.8.0_25"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_25-b17)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.25-b02, mixed mode)

fuku$ /usr/libexec/java_home -V
Matching Java Virtual Machines (1):
1.8.0_25, x86_64: "Java SE 8" /Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/jdk1.8.0_25.jdk/Contents/Home

/Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/jdk1.8.0_25.jdk/Contents/Home

---

These are the output from my command prompt. Although it says "Runtime Environment" is running, I have installed only the JDK.
Can anyone help me how to get rid of the dialogue to pop up, and successfully start openLCA?

Indeed, installation on Yosemite is a bit different since the pre-installed Java is different. See please this post: http://openlca.org/forum/viewtopic.php? ... ite#p28466.
You in any case need to install Java JDK 8 for running openLCA on a Mac.
