Importing ecoinvent

Post by jwlevis » 09 Jan 2014 22:23

I apologize if this is a very basic question, but I have access to ecoinvent through my university. What's the latest version of ecoinvent that I can use with openLCA? What files do I need, and do I need to convert them before importing them?

Do I just need the 9 EI_DATA_V2.2_LCI_i_x.zip files and then convert them? Does ILCD or Ecospold 1 usually work better?

Thanks.

Hi, you can import ecoinvent 2.2 best in ecoSpold 1 format, for ecoinvent 3 I would recommend the version that is available on the nexus site, https://nexus.openlca.org/, for import into openLCA 1.4 which has been released as beta version.
Best wishes

Thanks for the reply.

I would need to purchase the 500 euro package to use the nexus version, correct?

If I wanted to import EcoInvent 2.2, which files do I need? I'm having trouble finding where one can download the entire database.

Hi again, please use the version from nexus and while ordering it, in nexus, check "I already own a licence". The price will then be reduced.

Hello Andreas,

Is it really not possible to import the files directly purchased from the Ecoinvent site into OpenLCA? One must repurchase the database from openLCA again, albeit in a altered format?

Best

Michael

Hi Michael,
no it is possible but I would recommend using our version; it contains the full information but fits better for openLCA. So, if you do not have a licence yet, please order from us for the same price as e.g. from the ecoinvent centre; if you have a licence, order also from us and you will get a large discount. Please check the openLCA nexus site for details.
Best wishes,
Andreas
